Hi, I’m Giovana!

I’m a queer Black and Puerto Rican illustrator (she/her) located in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor’s in Public Communication and a focus in communication design.

During my studies, I learned how to pair my passion for illustration with branding and marketing. I took advantage of my time at UVM and tried to learn as much about design as I could. I became a teaching assistant, where I taught over 100 juniors and seniors how to use Photoshop and Illustrator in both beginner and intermediate graphic design courses. I became the Senior Graphic Designer for UVM Hillel, a Jewish organization on campus. I also was the Lead Graphic Designer for the UVM Center for Health and Wellbeing. These experiences helped me hone my design skills and become familiar with creating brand identities and promotional materials.

In Burlington, I have partnered with local environmental organizations, such as the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District and Central Vermont Trout Unlimited to create art for stickers, posters, and social media in order to grow their brands, expand their communities, and bolster organic reach. Some of my favorite projects have been making labels and stickers for women-owned Vermont businesses such as Wicks and Wanderers and Nasty Womxn.

I started to work for JZaccor Designs, a Burlington design studio, in 2020. I focused on video editing, 2D animation, and social media marketing here. I have developed and edited content for creators such as Maren Altman, who has a following of over 200,000 on several social media networks and 1.4 million followers on TikTok. At JZaccor Designs, I became familiar with creating a cohesive brand and style for clients across all of their social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube. Today, my work at JZaccor Designs is more focused on web development and creating brand identities for organizations. Some of my recent work with JZaccor Designs includes curating a brand and website for Apex Ski Boots and Amy Filbin.

I love focusing on projects that help give a voice to underrepresented communities through art and design. I’m especially interested in work with WOC, BIPOC, and Latinx communities. I’d also like to create more designs for local businesses, socially responsible companies, and organizations that focus on environmental stewardship.

When I’m not designing, you can find me hiking, painting, paddleboarding, playing guitar, or reading in a park.
